Reception of application forms for participation in the European Cup 2008 which takes place on June, 11-15th in the Palace of sports "Borisoglebsky" (Ramenskoe) has come to the end. This time, as well as the last year, the main European club trophy will be challenged by fifteen commands from fourtteen countries. On courts there will be badminton players of clubs of Azerbaijan, Belgium, Czechia, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine. The majority of the countries was already defined with clubs which will act under their flag on tournament, only in Belgium, France and Portugal the national championships have not completed yet, therefore names of commands will become known later. Russia on tournament will be represented by two clubs - the present owner of the European Cup, the champion of Russia "Primorye" (Vladivostok) and the beginner of Euro, the bronze prize-winner of the championship of Russia "Favorite-Ramenskoe" (the Moscow area), which have acquired the right to act on tournament as the accepting party.

Andrey Antropov, vice-president of National federation of badminton of Russia, the repeated champion of the country: "The European Cup will pass for the first time in Russia (before it was spent only in the USSR in 1988), and we feel huge attention from the European union of badminton (BE) to everything, that with it is connected. For this reason competitions will be visited by representative delegation BE led by Secretary general Brian Agerbak. What about the structure of commands, it, in my opinion, is very equal - in commands stars of the European badminton act, and all the clubs involve the big number of legionaries including from Asia. All this promises persistent struggle which should deliver great pleasure to spectators".
